Land of Lincoln Border Collie Association  Annual Sheepdog Trial

CLASS COURSES & Entry Fees (per run)

OPEN ($70/Run): Full course, outrun approx. 325 yards.

PRO-NOVICE & NURSERY ($55/Run): Full cross drive, outrun approx. 250 yards

RANCH ($45/Run): One leg drive, outrun approx. 150 yards. Open handlers can enter a dog in this class as non-compete, as long as that dog is not entered in any sanctioned class.

NOVICE ($45/Run): Outrun approx. 125 yards, wear, pen. No open handlers, and dogs may not have ever competed in any ‘driving’ class with any handler.

ALL ENTRIES: In all classes, handlers may enter 2 dogs per class; 3rd dog can be entered and added if room. Please send a separate check for third dog.

YOUTH INCENTIVE
FREE two-run entry in either our Novice or Ranch class for Youth Handlers 16 years of age and under. Handler and dog must have reached the proficiency for the class entered. Check the box for Youth Handler on the Entry Form. We welcome youth volunteers, it’s a great learning opportunity to shadow an experienced person. Any questions can be directed to the Trial Secretary.

SHEEP
Our sheep this year for both fields will be a commercial flock of fine wool ewes (Rambouillet/Merino cross).

CAMPING: This year camping will cost $10/night, please check the camping box on the entry form and include your camping fee with your entry fees. All camping is on a first come first served basis, no reservations.

The initial entry period opens at 12:00 noon (EST) on May 1
and closes at 12:00 noon (EST) on May 22

All entries submitted during this time will be  treated equally with respect to any waiting lists.

Entries made after this initial entry period will be accepted  in the order submitted only if space allows.

Handlers will be notified of accepted Entries by May 26th and last day to  withdraw with a full refund will be June 2nd no exceptions

No entries accepted without full payment,  postmarked within five days of online entry submission. 

MEMBERSHIP CHALLENGE

The Founders Challenge (OPEN): In memory of the founding fathers of the club: Harry Enloe, Wally Yoder, Orville Maxwell and Larry Gartner. The award will be $200 for the member with the highest combined score with the same dog over the weekend.

The Volunteer Challenge (PRO-NOVICE): In memory of Laura Tomaszewski, a tireless worker for the club. The award will be a crook for the member with the highest combined score with the same dog over the weekend.

The Teachers Challenge (NOVICE): In memory of Becky Goodwin “The Teacher”, without her dedication and hard work this club would not be here. The award will be a whistle for the member with the highest combined score with the same dog over the weekend.

MEMBERS CHALLENGE RULES Winner must be a current member, who has also agreed to giving up at least one hour of time to volunteer over the trial weekend. Highest combined score in Open, Pro-Novice, and Novice over the weekend. Pro-Novice winner cannot also be an Open Handler. Pro-Novice/Ranch handlers are not eligible for the Novice award.

HANDLER DINNER - A dinner will be held on Saturday evening after the trial ends. We will need a headcount to sign up for the dinner needs to be done by noon on Friday … menu and cost is TBD.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: TBD
